Texting And Driving Is Something To LOL About!
As many drivers are aware, texting and driving has become illegal in over 30 states within the last year. “But what’s the big deal?” ask 18 year old Collin, from Colorado, “ I can text without looking at my phone”. Many teenagers and adults think the same way as Collin. Texting and driving can’t be THAT dangerous, right?
Wrong! Texting while driving along with talking on the phone while driving has become two of the most frequent causes of accidents today. But still, why is everyone taking this texting thing so seriously?
Because, it is serious. After numerous reported studies, texting while driving has been show as being similar to drinking while driving. Although it is hard for some drivers to see the correlation between the two, researchers are convinced. Texting while driving causes a lack of concentration on the road, a distraction, and impairment to the driver’s ability to react quickly to any given situation.
So what does this have anything to do with insurance? It has everything to do with insurance! Accidents are the number one cause of premium increases among policyholders. Anytime a policyholder receives a ticket or is involved in an accident, they risk having to deal with premium increase. Texting is no different. After texting and driving was made illegal, drivers are subject to experience the same lawful consequences as they would for reckless driving, driving while under the influence, and other types of lawbreaking behavior.
Although this article may seem slightly serious and a bit blunt, it’s mean to serve as a reminder. ChoiceAutoInsurance.com cares about your safety and wants you to be able to receive auto insurance for a reasonable price. The more drivers are educated about the consequences their actions have on multiple things, hopefully the less likely they will want to participate in them. Remember, it is our job to keep the roads safe!
